I'm also surprised you don't own a power conditioner, which may solve the problem
There are 3 in my rack!
Are these proper power conditioners, or the things they call power conditioners which are glorified power strips?

I had a Furman IT20 when I was living in the US, which fixed some hideous mains hum.
It was a couple of grand.

In my house it's the washing machine that does it.

    Damn annoying sometimes.

You're talking to Gassage here...would I even consider skimping?

Mark L's custom shop PS/Furman/Olson all there.

Besides, it's only just happened- worked fine before.

Have you tried just playing the guitar into the amp with the amp supplied by the power conditioner?

    Give me model numbers.
Furman do some good stuff but most of their 'power conditioners' don't so squat.

Sounds like outside interference. I'd wait a few hours before before throwing money at it, might be a temporary thing.

Power suff can be weird, which is why I like to have all the information before making too many suggestions.

  • I used to have an horrendous noise problem at my parents house which I eventually found was the burglar alarm. I only worked this out by plugging my guitar into one of those vox amplug headphone things and walking around the house noting where the noise was worst. It was in every doorway that it made the worst noise, which I thought was odd, until I went into the pantry where the fuse box was to see if there was anything there. It was like being plugged into one of those ghost hunter electrical activity machine things, then I realised the alarm main unit was in there, and the cabling fed all through the house with sensors above all of the doors....
Please note my communication is not very good, so please be patient with me

@Gassage did you have a storm around at the time?

I know storm have caused electrical issues in cars (including Audi TT's -not all, and only early ones,  which lost all electrics in stormy weather), and wonder if it's something similar.

if not, you'll have to sell up and move somewhere with a better power supply.

Glad to hear it's stopped. Here in Cornwall with mains electricity supplied via overhead cables sharing space with telephone lines, what you have described is a permanent non fixable situation.
