"Drink the Kool-Aid" is a typical American expression.
I heard it a lot when I lived there.

It's a reference to the Jonestown massacre, originally, and a fairly common cultural reference there - not sure what the problem is.

Perhaps the fact it's typically American as are many of the conversations on TGP, I really should stop visiting, what with that and constant referencs to "my #1" and naming their guitars as though they are some kind of Stevie Ray Vaughn or Jimmy Page etc

I guess I am becoming less tolerant, it may have something to do with working for a US company and having an American boss who is a complete arse

As @octatonic said it's a common expression over there.  I see it a lot on NFL sites as well.
