I think it would work great. I have a Cub 15R on order and those go fecking loud when you turn them up. You won't get Fender Twin type cleans, but you get a marvellous slightly compressed just-past-clean that is to die for.

Hmm I'm still torn. 

I can mostly deal with just on the edge as actually very spanky tones don't work for a lot of stuff (really just disco), but I'm not sure if what is essentially a fancy AC15 would give me what I need.

I have a Blackcat 30 that's mainly on 15w mode and a Matchless Lightning. They both sound exactly like @stickyfiddle has described.
