Our drummist ( who is 60) was a soul boy, going to the Wigan casino and all that. Bit of a wild time by the sound of it. Not something I was ever that aware of but I like the rare soul stuff I hear from time to time.

I've done so many mod gigs and festivals I could cheerfully never hear another northern soul tune ever again, let alone watch the nylon-clad self-love that is mod dancing. Each individual practitioner usually needs a space equivalent to half a dance floor in order to show everyone else just how good they are. Not quite the same as an actual northern soul event but lots of crossover.

As as for the dad-dancing comment, IME of watching but not partaking it's usually lots of drugs inspiring them, coke, speed or e mostly. Alcohol being only a fringe attraction for many
