I've never tried a tremolo pedal so I don't know if I need one.

Any examples in songs of the effect being used?

The sales on tgp would be astronomical
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

  • @DanR as it's amongst the oldest of effects applied to the electric guitar there are huge amounts. Lots of Bo Diddly, Creedance  Clearwater Revival, Lonnie Mack, Pop Staples, Rolling Stones, The Smith's, Radiohead, Link Wray ( his Rumble pretty much the essential tremolo track), lots and lots of Americana ( the Plant- Krauss album for those of us without detailed knowledge of the genre for starters),etc.

Because it kind of says 'roots' you'd struggle to find examples in heavy metal, for example, but it has had a revival in recent years in lots of genres. Quite a lot of blues artists who use it low in the mix ( Robert Cray, Charlie Baty for example) to add movement to sustained chords rather than as an upfront effect.

So it's better in clean slightly broken up amps then.

Yes, generally, it will tend to get lost with heavy distortion.
There's that chopping thing you get with slicer type effects but that's not traditional tremolo.

  • It does sound amazing. That could remove two pedals off of my board. No funds unfortunately though so will have to wait for the Gassers here to give up the goods next year sometime LOL
