What is this effect? Delay or Reverb? (K T Tunstall 'Feel It All/Band Jam' Solo

I love the tone and the ambient effect on the solo of K T Tunstall's 'Feel It All' Band Jam version. It sounds like an old Tweed amp type sound  but what is the ambient effect? is that tape delay, reverb? Any suggestions on a pedal that could recreate this. My TC Flashback doesn't get this lo-fi and dirty sounding.

Solo starts at 1m54s

Reverb. It sounds like it has a fairly short time but a high level, like a 'room' reverb rather than a 'hall', but it has more of the tone of a spring reverb. It might even be gated, I can't quite tell listening on a phone.

OK will have a play with my HOF and see if I get something like that going, I really like it. I tend to go for big long reverbs not really experienced with short reverb times.

It sounds dirty and distorted which why I thought it might be a delay

That's the amp or whatever is giving the overdrive. The reverb is clean - and sounds like it's before the overdrive, since the reverb tails are cleaner than the broken-up guitar sound. I've listened to it on proper speakers now, and I don't think it's gated.

    I love this sound too.

I think that's mostly a slapback echo, with the repeat turned up.

Sounds like a proper spring reverb to me or a really good approximation of one with the dwell cranked.

Sounds like spring reverb cranked on a Fender combo to me.

  • @RandallFlagg I've been playing with the Flint today and managed to get a decent approximation. Sounds nice!

  • The DBA Reverberation Machine absolutely nails that dirty sound. It's spendy but is an incredible pedal
    How very rock and roll
