Never bothered with expression pedals, but I fancy grabbing a couple. What are some cost effective ones that wont die with my giant feet stomping on 'em?

  • get the new source audio one
it does everything to multiple pedals at the same time
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

+1 for a source audio reflex, for a basic but heavy duty pedal the mission stuff is well made.

My size 12's plus the questionable protection afforded by living in my gig bag with all the other crap have had no detrimental effect on my plastic bodied Moog EP-3.

I've got a Boss FV-500H or two to spare. I used to use them with Moogerfoogers but don't use the MFs anymore.... (thinks, must sell them too)

I've got a Roland one somewhere but prefer the Moog EP-3, although at new prices it would be the cheaper of the two.
AMT do a mini one if size is an issue ( off the top of my head it has a TRS and a TR input). But more than twice the price of the Moog. Like @simonk I've not managed to break my Moog yet.

Reckon the Moog would do it, and they're fairly cheap. Cheaper than the Boss anyway!

I'm using the Mission L6H helix specific one with my Helix

It works well and the toe switch can be another footswitch for other parameters too.

+1 for Boss FV500. Utterly bomb proof. Takes up a lot of pedal board real estate and watch out for TRS arrangement if using with an H9

Or the AMT. Small, but very well made and less space taken up on a pedalboard

The LFO thing on the reflex is awesome, I had it hooked up to an MWFX Judder, a Count to Five and a Bitquest with it set to random. So much weird. So much joy. DV247 have it cheapest (£202), but it was a good £30 cheaper pre-Brexit.

The Moog has sorted me for now. It works great and feels pretty solid.

I need to start designing my live patches soon. Basically where my head is at is that I'll have my core sound, and then a few other sounds that I'll bring in with an expression pedal - specifically thinking of ambient textures that can segue the songs together so our set is a constant ball of sound.

M audio expression pedals are under £15 on Amazon, for the amount of use they get, they are a no-brainier tbh
