Apparently not. I'll be getting one at some point for that very reason.

  • Money is not the limiting factor in OD goodness.
Nope. Nor is the asking price any reflection on what's going on under the hood. You can build most of the classic dirt pedals for about £20 in materials (although if you want a nice powdercoat paint job and cool knobs it'll be more).

If you were going to force me to spend a large amount of money on some sort of dirtifier I'd probably go for something that was too complex to feasibly build myself- so probably one of the Bogner pedals, or the Ethos or something.

Or possibly something that involves as much art as science in getting right, like a germanium fuzz- I'd quite like a D*A*M fuzz, probably a Tonebender Mk1.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

I never really listened to any Pete Thorn demos.
He's not bad on the old geetar, is he?
having owned both, I can say I never noticed it on the Waza, I think Boss sorted that out.
But @icbm knows what it was and how they did it.

As far as I know it's fixed. The reason it happens on the original is because the distortion circuit is not fully muted, just the output is switched. The distortion is still being generated, and a tiny bit of it feeds back via the power supply into the buffer. All later Boss dirt pedals have a mute for the distortion circuit as well.

Maybe Effectrode Blackbird, though it's more of a preamp than an OD
