How to setup MIDI keyboard in PreSonus Studio One - now fixed

I have a PreSonus AudioBox iTwo, which I use with Studio One. It works well for recording both guitar and vocals. I have an Alesis Q49 MIDI keyboard that I'd like to add, but I can't get the keyboard to work with this software. The keyboard is connected to the AudioBox with a 5 pin DIN cable.

In Studio One I added the keyboard as an external device. In "create new song" I clicked "MIX" and "External" and the device shows up. If I then click "Edit" in the Q49 drop down menu and "MIDI learn" I can see the Modulation control from the keyboard as Control1, but the pitch control is not seen.

What else do I need to do in order to get a sound from my computer when I press a key on the Q49?

I've no idea why it started working, but after unplugging everything, plugging it all in again and restarting Studio One, I have a working keyboard. The MIDI learn process still can't see the pitch control - but that's not an issue for me. All I need now is the Dummies Guide to playing rock keyboard like Rick Wakeman.

S1 can act odd with kepyboards. You might just find a restart has got it to see it properly.

Windows very kindly upgraded itself overnight and re-booted the system, which stopped everything working again. I tracked it down to the default speakers had been reset to the system speakers instead of the AudioBox. Don't you just love Windows!
