Who likes them ?  I've never seen the appeal myself.  I find pleasure in all other genres and the associated emotive reactions they induce, but being scared is not something I find enjoyable.  That said, I liked Signs (Mel Gibson) and Jeepers Creepers 2, but overall, I think having the shit scared out of you is not high on my list of pleasurable activities.

  • I love Horror Films, but Slasher Type ones are my least Favourite Horror(with the odd exception). I prefer creepy, suspenseful or sinister films or good mystery films. Can't explain why.

I think one of the creepiest films lately was The Conjuring.............. *Shudder*

I can do horror and suspense but not too much gore. More The Shining than Hostel.

  • Yep, i thought 'The Conjuring' was one of the best horrors ive seen in a few years.
Conjuring 2 was pretty good aswell i thought.

Im not a Horror fanatic, and 75% of horrors are garbage, but when they are done well theres nothing like it.
The ability to truly scare somebody with film is fantastic, and i REALLY enjoy shitting my pants in front of the tv at night.

Love a good horror. Wife and kids are terrified of them, so I tend to binge when I'm travelling with work.

I love horror films!  From dreadful stuff like Amityville and Nightmare On Elm Street through to The Conjuring and Sinister I love them all! I'd thoroughly recommend Eden Lake and 'Last House On The Left (the original and the remake were both pretty good...

  • I'm a fan. Ever since seeing the truly awful Dracula AD 1972 when I was about 9 and being terrified by it.

Not a huge fan of the torture porn stuff, but it has it's place. Love a good psychological scare, and have always been a fan of the zombie genre. Hellraiser and it's ilk (Event Horizon, etc) are daft as fuck but still have something about them.

Have yet to see The Conjuring, guess that's tomorrow night's movie watch taken care of :)

The Sequel, well actually "Prequel" ..."Annabelle" was decent too, the two stories are linked. The Conjuring 2 is based on the Enfield Poltergeist in 1977. I was confused at first as to why this incident was chosen, but then realised the films are focused on Ed and Lorraine Warren, the Psychic Investigators accounts, rather than the Doll which I though was the focal point of the films.

You'll love 'em, creepy as hell.

Most horror films are funny, not scary.

    Yes, I'm a fan.

I still think The Excorcist is still one of the best ever.  It still stands up today.

  • I'm an absolute horror nut! So much so, I started writing my own stories and have a blog and FB Page too  =)

Zombies are my favourite style but I'm into the obscure and weird stuff as well.

The only films in the genre I've disliked are the "Human Centipede" ones.....WAY too fucked up imo.

I actually found the Human Centipede ones quite compelling. The first for the mad as fuck Doctor, the second for the story of the pathetic protagonist's sorry existence. Even though both are I assume meant to occur in the minds of the characters rather than in real life. More horrific than most "horror" tales.

  • I love a good horror movie.

Like you've said above - most of the stuff that gets released these days are garbage but there are good ones - like both parts of 'Conjuring' mentioned by you.
The one that scared the shit out of me and my missus was "Witch". I recommend that one highly if you didn't have 'pleasure' yet  ;-)

I hate them. I have a lot of empathy and if I see something that freaks me out it can stay with me for weeks.

I can't watch modern horror but used to love watching the old Boris Karlof type films on BBC2 when I was a teenager..I stopped watching horror after the Evil Dead. I prefer a clever thriller.
Something like Casino, even with some gory scenes was so much better than just watching a horror film.

Prefer old school Hammer type horror to the slasher style and gorefest modern stuff. My favourite ever horror film is the Pit and the Pendulum.

From what I've read of part two's story, Martin was very much a serial fantasist. In fact the ambiguous ending suggested he was 'living' the mad Doctors dreams of a human centipede. It was very uncomfortable viewing....
