Soup makers - anyone got one?

What's Hot
Winter is soup time for me, but various dietary restrictions mean that I'd probably be better off making my own as store-bought soups seem to have too many ingredients on my forbidden list.

I've seen these all-in-one jug things on Amazon that look quite good. Does anyone have one and are they actually any good?

  • No need. A stock pot and a stick blender does it great.

Denby have a stainless stock pot on offer right now, good quality (I've just gotten one) and I use a kitchenaid stick blender. But last year I used a 5 quid tesco one and they both soup up shit.

My folks have one. They went through an obsessive soup phase for a while.
I personally think you can make your own just as easily though.
But for convenience the maker is quite handy.
I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.

  • Pressure cooker and a blender is all you need

  • I use a Morphy Richards soup maker. Whether it's really any easier than making and blending your own I'm not sure - but it feels easier. Also, stick blenders have a nasty habit of spraying you and the kitchen with molten soup if you get the blending angle wrong.

The wife got one about 6 months ago, used it a couple of times, went on about how good it was... you can guess the rest!

I've got a large saucepan, and a section of blenders.

    Does well for me.

Dunno about the soup maker.  I use a slow cooker and have it chunky.

I have a soup maker - it's the wife. You really don't need any special equipment. Just a knife, a chopping board and a saucepan. We're having soup for lunch today .. I take a piccie for you ... :-)

My wife makes some seriously tasty soups ...

That's the same as I use, in fact there's a beef casserole in it now in the oven which will be ready for tea. Yum.

I make lovely chicken soup from boiling the bones after we have a roast. Love it, but I eat a lot of bread with it.

  • I use a slow cooker and a blender but a decent saucepan/stock pot will get the job  done too.
