I use kodi on tablet and laptop, it's brilliant, considering a preloaded firestick to stick in the tv

I've got a Kodi loaded Firestick. It's the best 30 quid I've ever spent. No glitches, piece of cake to use and lots of stuff to watch.

Have it loaded onto a Fire TV box. Use it mainly for NAS stuff but it recently proved very useful for streaming UKTV (Taskmaster) when their official app failed to work on the Fire interface. Much irony, and I had the benefit of the adverts being stripped as well.

  • Wiped an old Acer REVO (R3610) that was struggling with Win7 and installed OpenElec (Linux-based Kodi variant) on it.  Runs like a champ.

My father recieved an utterly crap Archos mini tab when he bought his equally crap mobile phone.

He already had an iPad Air 2 (which I bought for him), and he couldn't get the Archos to work. So he gave it to me.

It's a terrible tablet incredibly slow, painful to use...,but has a decent screen.  I popped KODI on it, and us it to watch movies in bed.  Mrs Marlin used an iPad with Netflix....she likes chickflix.

Kodi doesn't work that well on the Archos tablet. It usually takes me a half hour to find a movies link that works properly.

A friend has it on a hacked Apple TV unit. Works faultlessly.  I've heard ISP's are cracking down on KODI, so VPN's might be useful in the future..,

    Marlin :)

I've got a Raspberry Pi hooked up to the TV with Kodi. I don't know what I did without it.

I use an old HP compaq PC loaded with Ubuntu and KODI as a media centre. I've just installed the 'Pulse' build through the ARES wizard & it's got everything on it you could imagine.

    In short, yes to all.

Laptop you can usually just connect via HDMI. Not sure about iPad. Amazon do plenty of Android boxes which connect to your TV via HDMI. You can also use Chromecast.

You can buy preloaded, but setting it up isn't a huge hardship, plenty of good guides online on how to do so.

I recommend you get a wireless keyboard/remote thingy. You can pick them up for a tenner on Amazon.

This is the Pulse build 'How to' I've just installed, It used to be a pain in the backside installing all the repositories individually, this pulse build has everything, in fact there's a rake of other builds similar. 'Fire build guru' 'durex build' Apollio build' to mention just a few.  https://seo-michael.co.uk/how-to-install-pulse-ccm-build-kodi/

Yes wireless keyboard/mouse is a must.

What did you install Kodi onto in the first place?

A desktop PC which is connected to the smart TV & audio going through the bluray player surround sound system.

Got a Firestick and put a Balinor build on. Glitchy as anything on live TV, not really using it now.

    Anyone got a good build?

I have a fireTV stick onto which I sideloaded Kodi. It works brilliantly. To start off with I had to use a workaround to access it, but the stick's firmware was updated and now it appears with the rest of my apps, and in my recent thingies.
    My V key is broken

  • I sideloaded it with adblink from my PC I believe. I've currently got the Nemesis build on mine and runs fairly well. Not the best for live TV but perfect player seems slightly better. Tempted to try the raspberry pi too and see how that fares...

Got it on Firestick, PC and Android phone - some good youtube vids guide you thru how to do it if you are not that IT literate but you can buy Firesticks with it preloaded too. It's fantastic - so much stuff on it. If you get the Firestick you get a wee remote with it and it's easy to navigate. We hardly have the TV on now - just use that and Kodi.
