So, Old Bill have been quite exceptional so far regarding the breakin.

In my conversations with CID we discussed various online resources and the issues Plod have tacking stuff.

I therefore wondered if we should have a lost and stolen section on here, that Plod are aware of, and assists with various pics of thieved stash?

Just a suggestion, and I realise there's pros and cons.

It's a good idea but if it's going to be on an open forum beware.

There was one for my local area on FB and pretty much from day one it attracted scumbags and degenerated into a punch-up with accusations flying all over the place about ex-cons, thieving kids etc - the guy who set it up canned it.

Give it a go and see what happens.

Crooks and ex-cons. For example, say a number vans got broken into the info would be put online - people would say Bill Blogs used to do that and a member of his family would come on and start threatening people. Got ugly .. I only looked a few times and then it was gone.

I think the other issue, ask @fretmeister could be legal if people get accused of doing something on a public forum. This isn't Facebook so maybe I'm overreacting.

It's a good idea as a section, but it's also an advertisement for your replacement stuff of you think about it. 

I don't like to give much information away other than mindless ranting, plenty of people just itching to thieve my stuff.

I get a lot of pictures of stolen vehicles on the motorhome forum. I'm not aware of it ever having lead to anything, if I saw the stolen moho ten minutes after seeing it on the net I probably wouldn't recognise it. I wouldn't say we shouldn't have what the big G is suggesting but the chances of it resulting in anything seem pretty low. 
I don't know how dealers like @guitars4you check to see if something is stolen? Must be a major headache if it turns out to be a stolen strat, a taken telecaster or a lifted Les Paul.

Has anyone looked into smart water/data tagging their guitars?
Bikers do it with their bikes so the parts can be traced if their bike gets nicked.
It is now standard on all new bikes and has greatly reduced theft of these bikes.

Might we worth thinking about.
