Power supply question

What's Hot
I'm getting a bit of inheritance soon so plan to get an H9 but my question is: what power supply should I get to power the following?

Eventide H9
Line 6 M5
Strymon BlueSky
Vox Delaylab

Don't need any more than 4/5 outputs as I use a Diago PowerStation for the rest of my board (it just doesn't have enough juice for the above FX)

I'd say a Gigrig Generator and extensions, it's not cheap but it is a 1 power lead solution (99% of the time)

  • A Gigrig would do the job. You'd need an isolator module for those pedals. You might also need something extra for the M5, I believe it's an AC rather than DC pedal.

  • OK I can see the GigRig Generator is £97 online, but it's described as modular. Wwhat else would I need to buy of theirs to power the above pedals?

  • Looks like I would need a four output isolator as well right?

  • Nope M5 is 9VDC 500mA

You'll need a Generator (you'll probably get one of those on here, I just picked up a second one to replace one I stupidly sold to Warren!) a Distributor and an Evenflo adaptor. Now funnily enough I have one of the latter for sale!

The GigRig setup is good though. It'll cover everything apart from AC with power to spare (5000mA total).

  • thanks hywelg!

  • Just done some more Googling and I think the Strymon Ojai would fit the bill and be cheaper to boot than all the Gigrig bits

  • Cioks will have one. The Powerfactor 2 is superb.

Bear in mind the Ojai requires an external power pack
T-rex Goliath also an option. Works for me.

M5 doesn't actually draw 500mA.  Before I sold mine I ran it fine off one of the 400mA outputs on a Hot Stone Deluxe.  From what I remember reading online it will happily run off of less than that.

which external power pack do I need for it?

  • If you go down the Gigrig route, bear in mind that the isolators only give you 180mA per output. If you need more you will need a Timelord per pedal to run off one of the Distributor outlets.

FFS! I think I'm going to rule out the GigRig, seems like I need to buy half their products just to get it to work

It comes with the power pack. Essentially  is a wall wart powered box.

  • Seriously, look at the Cioks Powerfactor 2

nah it's about £100 more than the Strymon and about twice the size. I just don't need it for powering 4/5 digital pedals
