There is a lot of love on this website for the Blackstar Fly. I saw one yesterday, in Maplins (Blanchardstown Shopping Centre) and was more than surprised at how small and light it is. I thought my Pignose is small but it it a giant compared to the Fly. Did not get the chance to try it out in the shop, Maplins is not a music shop, but I find it hard to take it seriously as a guitar amp. Whereas with the Pignose, you have a 'real' guitar amplifier, one that won't be easily be pulled off the table.

Really great little amps and woefully underrated.
I just think people don't really understand how to use them properly.
Much preferred the Fly.
Crank the volume right up and control it all from the guitar and use the lid of the Pignose as a tone control. I usually have it open by about 1/2 an inch or so otherwise it can indeed sound quite boxy and nasal.
They take pedals surprisingly well too.
I've never tried a Blackstar but I'm willing to bet the Pignose sounds huge in comparison.
You can laugh but I'm the one with the better amp.

I bought the Fly 3 amp with the extra box as my first amp. its for bedroom practice only and its great. I'm not a newcomer to Guitar but I am a newcomer to amplification. I've had it just over a week now and love it. The one thing I'm not keen on it the audible attack on the first repeat when using a longish delay value. I don't know if the delay on all amps sounds like this. The delay effect is good but needs to be set just right for my liking.
The Fly was £50 on its own and I decided to buy the extra box with it for £80 - it just seemed good value because it came with a mains adapter (which the basic Fly 3 doesn't) The really nice thing is the ultra portability of the battery-powered Fly 3. A great sound for something you can carry in your pocket!
BUT - I'm now thinking I'd prefer the ID Core-10. Why? because it has significantly more effects available, I have plenty of room for it and its only the same price as the Fly 'stack.' Full price is £99 but it seems to be generally available at £89 and I'm sure I've seen it at £79. All the prices in this whole post include delivery. At the moment, it can be found even cheaper:

and I recently had an add via Gooogle where it was available at £65. Delivery was an extra £8.95 and I think it was from a European company, sounded Dutch (not Bax or Thoman.)
If I were buying again I'd go either for the £50 basic Fly or the Core-10 and I might buy the Core-10 anyway :-)
I presume they mean 3 inch speakers?
I didn't dismiss it out of hand. I was just willing to take a huge chance on betting good money that the Pignose sounds better. Such is my faith in the Pignose that I would risk a whole £1 or £2 bet on it.
Yes, Coda - that was the place with the £65 Core 10s + £8.95 P=P

Its the first negative thing I've seen about the Core 10
With a LP it sounds great whatever you do.
What other amp can you comfortably sit on the bed, couch, kitchen worktop, or just about any other surface while you sit back and practice? The mass to tone ratio on the thing is unparalleled.
