Working with live demo recordings in Reaper

 So I've been back in the rehearsal rooms recently for the first time in years and I've been putting together a few basic song structures with a mate on drums. We've been recording things and the next step is to take the demo recordings in to Reaper and develop them further, by adding other parts - bass, additional guitars, other effects, etc.

Has anyone else done similar who can recommend a workflow. I think I'd like to sync the live recordings to the tempo in Reapers, so I can perhaps play about with structure, inserting and cutting sections for example. Is it something like this I need to do to get things synced? Any other tips and tricks?
