Solar powered IR lights.

I'm trying to avoid needing an electrician and putting mains ones in.

Are these type things any good?

Are they bright enough?

Bright enough for what ?  Being able to see any light at all?  Do a photoshoot with?  Replace the Sun ?  What are your requirements ?

My rate is one tenth of yours, so that'll be...  ten minutes, plus phone calls, admin fees, postage...  call it a round twenty grand and we're quits.  ;-)

Most of these solar lights have a problem: they come with really cheap batteries fitted and they're knackered within a couple of months. If you swap them out for decent quality rechargeables they work much better. I'd still go for a mains powered one given the choice though, if the solar powered thing still runs out of juice in the middle of the night they're pointless.

If it is an infrared light, you won't be able to tell if it is on anyway.

They do do the job well - providing enough light to see to open the front doors. Also very small and minimal design.
