Jazz Lick Of The Week

Hi all,

For a while now i've been running a free online page with some jazz licks, some harmonic discussion, even some jazz ear training and all with backing tracks to play to.

I've neglected the guitarists (being a horn player!), but recently a local guitarist got wind of it and loved it.

So please check it out. There is some semi advanced stuff, but mostly aimed at beginner improvisers. Doesn't matter if you're not much of a reader as it's designed to have you play the lines by ear anyway.

On the page there's pdf links for a variety of instruments. Just click on the "C treble" part.

There's also a few youtube links on the page you might to have a look at too for a "more personal touch".

New to jazz harmony? "From The Ground Up" covers jazz chord formation, diatonic chords and analysis and more to get you up and running. Without all the glow and frills of many commercial books, it's concise and easy to understand. Also available is an accompanying work book to go with each unit for you (or your students) to follow up each unit with. For $7 it's well worth it.

Hope you find them useful.
