I seem to remember some people here using some online left field energy supplier, but cannot for the life of me remember any details...Does anyone know WTF I'm talking about?

Good Energy and Ecotricity both supply gas and electricity, with a focus on green sources (100% of electricity from renewables, 'green"gas, whatever that is). I think they are the top two providers for customer satisfaction too.

Ecotricity are good, old school billing too, so you don't have to set up a direct debit if you don't want to.

Ecotricity sound worthy of further investigation. For various reasons I'd prefer paper bills rather than being forced into direct debit to get the best price.

I left Good Energy for OVO.
I forget why exactly but I remember getting pissed off with their telephone support.
OVO have been excellent.

OVO was it. their prices are coming out 30 quid per month more than co-op however

I'm with OVO as well - nearly 3 years now.

I'd avoid "Extra Energy" like the plague. My daughter tried transferring to them. Not only did they fail to mange to get her gas supply transferred, but then tried to tell her that she needed to do it herself. Some months after leaving them and paying the final bill off fully, she got a solicitor's letter threating to take her to court for not paying the final bill - this was apparently an "administrative error"!!

This always makes me wonder - just what sort of customer service is there? I mean, you turn on a light, it works etc.

I was with GB Energy, they have just gone under, so need a new provider

Wait till they screw up transferring your service over, or getting the billing wrong, then you'll find out what customer service is about.
