How to remove binding?

I have a Mahogany Hosco Tele body that is double bound, the binding has come away in places and Ive broken a bit of it, trying to remove it, about 4inches was quite loose and came off easily, the rest is well stuck and I dont want to damage the edge of the body where the binding butts up in its rout, so, what is the secret to getting it off, paint damage is not an issue as it will all be refinished

It normally comes off fairly easy once you get under an edge, I would score the edges and use a chisel to lift it off

You could try a heat gun to warm it up before chisel abuse
