So, I was tidying up in the loft and spotted this "thing" on the middle of a bit of plasterboard. I can't get any closer to it so have taken a couple of pics. Anyone got any idea what the hell it is?  My immediate thought was that some sort of insect had started building a nest right in the middle of the plasterboard. Anyone got any thoughts?! Click on it to zoom in...

Looks to me like someone has plastered over a hole, possibly put some joint tape in there which is whats causing those funny grid shapes.....nothing sinister I don't reckon.

    Ha!  Really?

    Assuming it's a serious question.
It looks a lot like plaster to me.

What spark240 said. Looks to me like someone has knocked a hole in the plasterboard from the other side, so when it was skimmed the plasterer put a bit of mesh over the damage on the other side and plastered over it. The squares will be from the plaster being forced through the mesh.

Unless the wall on the other side isn't plastered of course, in which case it's aliens. Don't get too close to it.

  • I can't recall the name of the product but it's the mesh stuff designed for fixing holes in plasterboard.

  • Looks like a dodgy plastering area to me too. Assuming nobody has recently been face hugged by an alien that is.

The punchline to which is, if you cannot spot who in your family is brainless, then, it must be you. ;)
