2016 Strikes Again......

What's Hot
Snowy, my 20 year old cat has sadly passed away :(

He's been with me for about 4 months and, while I was aware he may not have had long, it's still a shock. He's had a good long life though  and was a constant pleasure to look after.

Bugger :(

Ugh. Sorry to hear that mate :( sending man hugs.

Losing a pet sucks balls. Our Springer is only 1, and we've (hopefully) got a decent amount of time left with her, but I already know I'm going to be beside myself when she goes.

Sorry to hear that. 20 years is a good innings, but I know that doesn't make it any easier.

That's a real shame man. I know it's hard but 20 yrs is a long life for a kitty.

Concentrate on the new little one and hopefully that will help.

    All the best.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

  • Never easy to lose a furry family friend Scott, but I'm sure Snowy was happy in his last days. Food and horror movies, how could he not have been?

    How's Loki dealing with it?

Commiserations.  That was a brave thing you did taking Snowy on and I'm sure he enjoyed his last few months with you,

  • Really sorry to hear Snowy's no longer around. Take strength in the fact that you made his life so much better in the months you looked after him.

  • It still hasn't kicked in yet......

Loki seems okish, he's a little more subdued though. It's going to take a while to adjust.

    Sorry to hear that.

Is Loki another cat? I have read that if the animal left behind can see the dead body they move on quicker.

Even though I knew this when we put our 13 year old to sleep about 3 weeks ago I couldn't bring her home and do it.

I am pleased to say that our other 13 year old moggi (so they spent their whole life together) doesn't seem to be adversely impacted by her passing.

On the other hand my Mum reckons our cat we had when I was a kid grieved for nearly two years when she lost her mate....

  • Sorry to hear that, mate...however, adopting an older animal deserves much respect.

  • Loki is my 2 month old kitten. He saw Snowys body too and refused to go near him, which is understandable.

It's a little *too* quiet this morning. Loki is being totally cute which is helping but I'm heading out in a bit for a walk and some fresh air.

All your sentiments are much appreciated ;)
