Our youngest (nearly 8) was in at 4am this morning pestering to open presents. Managed to hold him off until 6.

Anyone else woken at ridiculous o'clock?
Red ones are better.

  • This is the first year I was awake first, youngest kids are now 13 & 15 and less excitable and I woke them flushing the loo so we were up at 7:30.

the 4am starts of previous years really bollix me up for the rest of the day, especially after a boozy Christmas Eve.

If I had kids, the rule would be that presents are opened at 9am.  Any attempt to circumvent this rule would result in the destruction of the presents in front of them followed by a beating.

4am ??  I'd have locked the little sod outside.

I think I'd have made a good father.

3 year old still asleep thankfully. Probably thanks to her 2am tantrum. Little fella is crawling around the living room oblivious to Christmas. Enjoying my morning coffee in peace before it all kicks off. In laws will be on the way soon

Christmas is actually not that bad really for us in A&E, in between and just after new year is generally much busier. I know what you mean about the family thing though!

I think we got away pretty lightly with our 4 year old at 5 to 6 this morning.

Trying to get him to bed last night however was a different matter, tried all delaying tactics including a new one... "I can't got to bed yet.... I just need to kiss the dog..."

  • 0315 for us. Calmed them down & got them back to bed, where they stayed till 0730.
I'll take that- 0615 is the norm in my house.

I was woken at about 5am by my bladder.

On reflection,.it's better than not being woken by it...

  • i was up at 3:45. not for prezzies/kids, but because i'm getting over the pneumonia i've had for nearly 8 weeks, and that's the time my lungs reach 'full' and i wake up drowning on dry land.

(and before anyone asks, 3x courses of steroids, 4x courses of increasingly potent antibiotics, plus various other meds/chest X-rays etc.)

    merry sodding christmas!!
