Wooden Pedalboards (UK)

Hi all,
I have a pedaltrain metro 24 and although i really like it its just that little bit too small

I was wondering if there were any uk pedalboard companies that make a really high quality wooden board - i really like the style of these!

I have one of the Ruach boards (the Carnaby St #3) and they are nicely finished.

ah now that is extremely useful thank you I was thinking maybe the carnaby st version would be better as its similar to a pedaltrain  thou i am not as keen on the wood finish lol

  may i ask how you find the side mounted Jacks? 

also how do you find the routing of cables underneath the board? plenty of room? 
i see your power supply is on top of the board does that indicate there isnt too much room? or was that your choice

I personally like the side mounted jacks very much, keeps things neater (at least for my configuration) and they're easily replaceable should they fail - better for these jacks to get the wear and tear rather than the first pedal in your chain IMHO

The cable routing isn't an issue but getting a power supply underneath is a bit more difficult as the middle slat is a different depth to the others, meaning that the middle slat juts out on the underside which makes mounting a supply hard if the supply is greater in depth than the top slat (hard to explain but I've tried to show it in the pics below)

I ended up selling my power supply and bought the Cioks one as it is very low profile and small enough to fit on the underside of the top slat only but the supply gets so warm that the velcro detaches itself so for the time being I'm having to top mount it - the whole thing is a work in progress at the moment hence the excess cabling underneath!

The Ruach boards are smexy, but fyi there isn't enough room to mount a Pedalpower 2 underneath without a bit of modification (or in my case several beer mats).

Wish somebody had told me that first.

But if you do end up going for Ruach, they always pop up on sale on Reverb and etsy - I got 20% off.

Wooden boards look great but I'd be buggered if I was going to carry one around. Weigh a tonne!

I make my own out of whatever nice hardwood I can scrounge.

Got a buddy with the fossboard and fancied one myself until I saw his. It's ok, very reasonable price, but came across a bit rough and ready in build quality. After six months of gigging it didn't wear to well.

So it has seemed a bit like false economy to me. I could probably build one with a closer eye for detail, a higher quality finish and for less or similar money, yet my woodworking is well below average. This may be as a result of the whole reclaimed wood thing so I don't want to be too unfair about the product because I really like that as a concept -the bottom line for me however, is that I'd consistently advise folks to stick to their pedal train or similar if they are out and about regularly. This of course depends on if you plan on taking it out or are just using it for home use.

Rich at Alder and Ash Is a cracking guy and the finish and build quality looks fantastic. Got one coming soon for my smaller setup - worth having a gander.

Ive got a small Fossboard, which I dont use since the FX8 arrival, and they are surprsingly light.

Got mine roughly setup just waiting on better patch cables. Met Rich to pick up board and he is a cracking guy and the quality of the product is fantastic. Will do a few nice pictures once I have it cabled in properly.

I've used a small 4-pedal Fossboard like @Wazmeister's ;for a couple of years in venues where floor space is an issue. Mine's solid as a rock and still going strong after being routinely stomped on by size 9 biker boots.

Used my new pedalboard from @richalderandash  last night... really pleased with it! He's been very patient and the result was exactly the board I've had in mind for a long time!
