Gibson Truss Rod Covers for LP Standards

This is probably the most specific question I can think of, but I'm sure the wonderful folks here will have a quick answer: what's the deal with Gibson LP Standard truss rod covers? It appears there is a mixture of blank single ply covers, blank 2-ply covers, covers with script-style writing and covers with a childish cursive writing (the latter appearing the be the current?) but can't seem to find either a timeline or even the script-style ones available for purchase.

Go onto eBay and search for 'Les Paul truss rod cover' and you'll see a lot of different types available.

I guess - I know they're all available but I was just wondering what the real deal was over the years?

It probably varies from year to year, and model to model, seemingly randomly, and for no good reason. There's probably a book somewhere that catalogues the whole crazy ride...

Fair enough - thanks for the info I will see if I can get one with script. Either that or "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" initialed in there.

Only Les Paul Standards will have 'Standard' on the TRC. Historic reissues will have blank TRCs like the originals did.
