Looks like a great idea for pedal building...

  • I'm suprised they put a foot switch on it ...

Seems like the last place I'd want a loaded breadboard is on the floor near my foot.

I guess if you're doing a full prototype then it makes abit of sense (?).

I'd have just assumed you'd want it on the bench with a looper to bring it in and out.

I think bench use would definitely be its best / primary function. I presume the enclosure is just there as a bonus facility for those who want to go out and use their creation, but I think that would be unwise and is a bit gimmicky.

They work with your hands as well.

Wasn't there a breadboard pedal project thing before that failed?

I'd thought about building something similar - a couple of breadboards mounted to a wooden base along with the required jacks and switch so you can test in-situ. Fuzzdog make a board with the jacks & switch for £12.

I guess this is intended as more of a 'ready to use' package with the inbuilt pots, PSU, etc., but it is a little on the expensive side, especially with whatever shipping and duties become due.

Feels like a solution looking for a problem to me. People start evolving to rigs like that when they start taking building seriously; you start small, adding stuff as you go, or not when you realise it's not for you, etc.,...

I made myself a DIY 'beavis board' (named after the Beavis audio pedal building site where the idea became popular)

It certainly made life much easier.

I'm a bit cynical about Kickstarter these days after so many high profile, highly funded failures that don't deliver.

You mean, as in you pay your money and they literally don't send you anything?

    In some cases yes.

At leat this lot look like a going concern already (which makes you wonder why they don't just make the things now lol

There was a lot of publicity recently that the Lily drone that got funded for $43M (!) failed. They say everyone is getting refunds but they've had that money for 2 years lol

Seems kinda pointless to me. Anyone building pedals who wants a breadboard should be quite capable of building their own.

Crikey. I didn't know about that.

I think the impressive machines are owned by a separate company in this project. They're just the production subcontractors as I understand it  (?)
