..., the only real way to dim with success is with a dimmable  dali driver...
Er, can you explain what that is? It sounds quite surreal.
DALI is a lighting control interface. Mostly used for stage and architectural stuff.

We are using Dali in all high end domestic and commercial installs now.

dali allows all your switches to be wired in Cat5 , you can also use 0-10v dimming, I won't explain the operation here now as most people won't have the option in their home, I'm just saying if you want a better dimming system....

Ah - I'd not realised it had spread that much. I quite like DALI. It makes things easy to spec and the installers and programmers don't seem to dislike it.

Doh! It's occurred to me I was thinking of DMX for the stage and architectural stuff.

    I'll get my coat. Sorry.

@boogieman Some of mine that buzz are Philips! It might be down to the wiring in our place. I'm well aware we're above 50hz because the clock on our cooker always goes fast.
Hmmm, that's odd, ours have been fine with dimmers. As you say, maybe it's your wiring or supply. I bought cheap LAP ones from Screwfix originally and they were terrible for buzzing.

Dmx is cool for colour change , scene sets etc, and we have used it but domestic seems to be Dali

Aye - I've used both, you'd hope I knew the difference... lighting is generally someone else's problem though.

Can anyone recommend some good dimmable LED GU10s that a) gives a nice warm-ish light, b) actually dim properly and c) don't buzz when they do it?

I've never found one that succeeds on all those points.
The latest Philips master ones seem to be able to do it. Although I have been through 2 previous versions to find this out.
Seeing as there's gazillions of different Philips lamps here's the product code for the ones I have that work: Philips 438282 00
