Brick effect wallpaper?

I want to spruce the man cave up this year, any thoughts on brick effect wallpaper? thinking of putting on a couple of walls where the guitars hang, something like this sort of stuff. Is it as good as it looks or shit?

the more expensive trompe-l'oie papers look great from a slight distance but all very disappointing close up
great for stage scenery and good morning tv studios tho '

My bro has it either side of a large chimney breast behind shelves and it looks good.

Not sure it would work on larger walls.

If you do, don't get the cheap shiny stuff, as it will look shite regardless

Paint a mural, or get someone to do it for you.  Or use a really bold paint colour or two.

I used to walk past a wall covered in that brick look every day and always made the same negative comment.

When we moved into our house, the previous owners had put up white brick effect wallpaper. 

Made the living room look like an outside toilet. Was very glad to get rid of it.

Mate has it in his house looks canny I think, fancy it myself. Just be careful you don't get one with a repetitive pattern.

That is a danger, I remember there was a company that I saw and they make sure it's unique by going to a random part of this huge wall in France and sampling a bit the same size as your wall. It was nicely textured and everything. 

Another option is to get some tiles that are made of thin layers of brick.
