Had a haircut today (great other than the back of my neck being red thanks to a blade taken to my neck), always love getting one... they did the flame thing and trimmed my eyebrows and everything. I put my hands in my lap so they wouldn't butt against the guy (you know, when the elbow butts the groin..) but embarrassingly when he pulled the sheet off at the end, my hands were in my lap and I noticed my zip was down!! Wtf! Lol. I need some new trousers. I couldn't just pull it up so I pretended it never happened and walked out bold as brass after payment lol!!

It's a Turkish barber thing, where they burn off excess ear hair etc with a lit candle/splint.  Do it fast enough and the hair goes but you don't get burned.

I have springy tough hair and when cut goes all over the shop; When I used to go to the unisex place the girls used to get covered all over their chest area with it and I asked if they get irritated by prickly hair constantly on and in their clothes. The reply was that there is actually a Hairdressers condition called infected nipple which is a consequence of just this!

You know you are getting old when the barber has to do your eyebrows as well...

I'm not quite there yet - and bald so don't go to a barber anyway as I can operate a pair of clippers as well as anyone.

I just extract the odd rogue brow hair by hand at the moment.

How do our senior members manage their eyebrows?

I went to the local ladies hairdressers on Friday for my six monthly cut as we don't have a barbers in town anymore, how on earth do they endure the smell of that perming liquid all day! it's acrid & smells revolting. good haircut by the way =)
