Car tyre price rise!

If you're planning on getting some new tyres for your car you might want to get them now to save a few bob.

A friend had a couple of tyres fitted & the tyre fitter told him he had an email from his supplier saying they will be going up by 30% in around  three to four weeks time.



The breakdown he was given was:

10% for exchange rate (i.e. Brexit tax)
10% for raw material increases
10% from the withdrawal of Chinese export kickbacks (not sure what this -- I think it means that China was dumping tyres on the UK market and they have been forced to cease).

Exchange rate depends where the tyre comes from, Bridgestones should be cheaper as the pound is up on the yen since last summer, ¥137/£ in August, now ¥141/£ and a high of ¥147/£ in December.
