Extremely rare 1976 John Birch J1 with the original hand-made and signed pick-ups by the late John Birch. (Magnum L in the neck & Biflux in the bridge position).
If you're looking at this then you probably know what these are all about... John Birch made the guitars for Dave Hill of Slade (including the 'Super Yob'), he also made the original SG for Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath as well as guitars for Brian May, Roy Orbison and many others.
All of the John Birch guitars were one-off custom
guitars. You chose the body shape and then discussed with John Birch the neck profile,
pick-up selection, frets etc; and then your guitar was made for you.
Back in the day, they cost more than a Les Paul.
Made from Canadian Rock Maple with no neck joint to worry about and coupled with JB's own designed pick-ups, these guitars will sustain forever!
I’ve owned this guitar since 2011 and for the last 4 years it has only been played around the house.
The finish is without chips, blemishes or buckle rash and looks really shiny and deep. All pots are good with no crackles etc.
This guitar had a refin quite some time ago, apparently by Jaydee Guitars, which is a nice piece of continuity as John Diggins worked for John Birch when this guitar was being made, so he's probably had his hands on this guitar twice in its lifetime.
Rotary Controls:
2 x Volume - 2 x Tone - 1 x Master Volume
Rotary Selector giving:- Standard - Stereo - Out of Phase.
3 Way toggle switch for pick-up selection.
24 Fret (2 octave) maple fingerboard with full access to all frets.
Zero fret.
Here is the Youtube link from March 2011 that prompted me to drive all the
way up to Birmingham to buy this legendary guitar. It's well worth watching.

The guitar comes with a non-standard hard shell case made by Kinsman, which was brand new when I bought the guitar.
Not to be confused with the company currently trading as John Birch Guitars, their stuff is not in the same league as the original 1970's John Birch guitars.
I am based 10 minutes from Brighton.Reluctant sale £1295 ovno
