My tele was converted quite a while ago, and I love it.

I've been thinking about this since I posted earlier - sorry to derail the thread, but i'm going to Esquire my Tele now. Did you do the mods yourself Kone? Difficult? I am fairly spam-fisted with a soldering iron, but could have a bash if it's not too dificult.

http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7440801/Guitar Wiring/Esquire3-Way3.jpgthis is the easiest set up. just follow diagram.
Taff, the colours of the wires have any significance or am I being tech thick?

  • What colours do you have, that's one of the standard colours for a HB, Seymour Duncan uses these colours.

Careful.  Them there Esquires have big fat necks.
You say this like it's a bad thing.

I picked up this little gem yesterday.

Early Custom Shop '59 Relic, well played and the aging is REALLY good on this one, very realistic. Vibrates in the hand like a mofo, Suberb guitar!:

    But it can't possibly, its a top-loader ;).

That's my favourite of all Tele-types… white blonde ash body, maple neck, single-ply white guard, steel saddles. They ring like nothing else, and an Esquire it can only do it more :).

    Stunning guitar.

@miserneil nice one! I think yours is just a wee bit lighter in colour than mine. Stick a Piledriver in there and yer off!!!

That's crazy, I just got a '59 Relic Esquire on Friday. The one that was in the classifieds here a few weeks back in fact. http://www.tdpri.com/forum/attachments/fender-custom-shop-tele-forum/217835d1391153890-ngd-59-esquire-relic-image-582398634-jpg

Very nice too! I tried that guitar not long ago when Rich Henry had it.

Some crazy fool had put a neck pup and a black Bakelite guard on this so that was the first thing to go this morning. I might get a black guard though, make it a bit more Jeff Beck, we'll see.

  • Richard Henry had it back again somehow, I went and tried it out and loved it. Is yours off eBay? I saw one with a pickup and blackguard last week.

I'm guilty of putting black Bakelite on mine I have to say.

Maybe a Springsteen fan, since his "Tele" is an Esquire that's been done like that.

  • I've just wired up my humbucker'd esquire with the three way switch giving series/split/parallel sounds.  Despite being a bit of a simpleton I'm really enjoying the split and parallel sounds, less fat and very useful.
