Photographers please help me.....

It's the in-law's golden wedding next month and I've scanned a whole load of their old pics and was going to make a collage type place setting for their party.

What is the cheapest (or free-ist) way to do this?

I used to use Photoshop and know that layers would work but recently I've been pootling along using iPhoto and I don't think that can do what I want.

Alternatively, a legal (but potentially unethical) way of obtaining Photoshop CS2 is easily found by googling for photoshop cs2 (Adobe shut down the licencing /activation for this version).

From the mention of iPhoto I assume you're on Mac, in which case Pages should be absolutely capable of doing that. 

Obviously that'll only get you basic copy paste of photos with borders and shadows or whatever, but might be enough.

Well, I've brought out the gimp.  

Wanted to get little bit "clever" with pasting n stuff and it does enough for what I need.

The online version is best and is just like photoshop. I was tearing my hair out trying to use gimp, hated it.
