The Edge sometimes used an eBow for the solo (for want of a better word) in Unforgettable Fire when playing it live.

    But isn't! (except live, sometimes).

    But, you're right, it does.

Ebows are all over REM records. There was a period around New Adventures/ Up where I think Peter Buck just couldn't be bothered to strum!

  • Good shout with REM - I liked that New Adventures album, will have to dig it out.

  • Two names come up very frequently in discussions about the eBow.

Here's Phil Keaggy putting the eBow through its paces:

    ...and Bill Nelson:

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

Whenever I think ebow, I think Explosions In The Sky, especially The Moon Is Down live where Munaf uses gaffa and a tambourine in conjunction with his ebow. Magic stuff!

Then there's the ebow on bass experience of Sigur Ros - E-bow

Not an e-bow on the original, but Bowie's Heroes can be great fun with one.

Was that the eternal guitar or something like that? Invented by his roadie who then went on to be the guitarist in the Tractors? Although I may be conflating several things there.

One of the interviews on the Tim and Pete show is with some chap talking about using an ebow. I'll look it up later when I'm not on the mobile site. The guy from eighties super group Animal Logic, if that helps.

    That was the 'infinite guitar'.

And the Tim&Pete guy is Michael Thompson: major session dude.
