Computer Geniuses....need help with an outline...

What's Hot

Would any of the resident computer wizards be able to help me out? I'm desperate to build myself a Coronet style guitar but I want to get the proper outline. I know there is talk of Epiphone using the bottom half of a Telecaster and mirroring them but i'd like to get as close to the original as poss.

Would anyone be able with computer skills be able to get an outline from the pic so I can turn it into a pattern OR advise me on an idiots way of achieving it?! Ta! :-)

Busy at the mo but if no takers then feel free to nag me. I can trace an outline as a vector and then you can scale to desired size with no loss of quality. How much detail: Body, scratch plate, vol, tone, jack, pups, . . . .

There's a plan here https://sites.google.com/site/guitarplanscollection/pdf-files/other-brands that might be of use?

I have a pickguard template and a body drawing (on paper) that I made from one I had in for repair.

@SteveRobinson Thanks forbthat Steve, I actually found that one a while ago but unfortunately it's the later 60's shape and totally different.

@notanon If you did have time that would be absolutely awesome! In fact, all I really need is that picture scaled up so the end of the fingerboard measures 57mm when printed out, I can do the rest from there :-)

Is it just the horns that are different? The PDF  might make a good basis for a drawing, it gives the scale etc...

No, it's a smaller, offset body too. Everything else is essentially the same scale as an SG or DC Junior, I just wanted to get the proper, vintage correct body outline :-)

Here you go, it's a rush job over my morning coffee so not perfect but should be good enough to print on A2 and cut out with - Let me know if the size is wrong or you want the SVG. Sorry, should have mentioned, that should be A2 size at 90dpi. Not sure if it's being auto-resized by the site or I screwed up!

@miserneil - if you asked really really nicely, you could borrow my Olympic to get some measurements and so forth from - it's pretty curvy in places. Body shape is identical to a Coronet - oh, and you'd get to see the neck join up close as well, and the way that Epiphone did the batwing....

    Just sayin'

Something like that... it's got a touch of neck dive.

It would have a touch of neck dive if it was headless...

See attached PDF, this contains an outline trace overlaying the body which will scale for output very accurately, its a vector not a bitmap. Because there's no size information in the original pic you will need to scale the outline so that the width or height matches that of an actual guitar body. Then you can print it.

Alternately if you can tell me the dimension I'll scale it for you.
