How north London? There's a cool s/h vintage type shop in Highgate http://www.wildguitars.com/

They don't have stock listing on their site now. They used to, but it was always out of date.

Vintage Guitar Boutique in Finchley (East) is niiiiiiiiice. But pricey. Don't know what their haggle policy is. Think @Gassage had some not so successful dealings with them. But if you want to see and try nice old things, they should be good.

Vintage Boutique is now in Shoreditch, seems ok - but not an amazing stock when I was last there.

Big vote for New Kings Road Vintage on New Kings Road, not N London - but not that far and great chaps.

Good luck spending my money! ;)

    Wild Guitars?

I've always found their prices to be, er, amusing.

@Bridgehouse take a trip to Edgware music in Edgware (not Edgware Road!!), it's just up the street from Edgware tube station. The place is an aladdin's cave of vintage gear (including basses!) and they had some 60s and 70s stuff in there last time I was passing.

If you're there at 4pm ish, message me and i'll say hello as I'll be passing through ;-)

Popped in the other weekend as the missus was buying a fixie from Brick Lane Bikes across the road. Some interesting non-vintage stock (turquoise sparkle danelectros!) but the actual vintage selection was a bit thin.

When he was further down Highgate Hill it was a great shop. Lots of interesting gear and his prices were pretty reasonable. That was probably 20 years ago though. I had a look in the new shop a couple of years ago and... err, yeah, some ambitious pricing.  :)
