Ladies and gentlemen were floating in space

What's Hot
Hadn't listened to this record in years.

The album came on when I was working on my laptop at home this afternoon - thankfully I was using quality over the ear headphones. I had to stop work, turn the lights off and lie down to listen to it!

I'd forgotten just what an incredible piece of music it is. At times almost overwhelming......totally immersive, I gladly sank into its world. Some shatteringly beautiful songs - Broken Heart, Cool Waves....... 'if you've got to leave, you've got to leave', that fragile voice, its a quasi religious experience.....

It so vividly reminded me of an opiate high I started to get psychosomatic symptoms. Bloody lovely I tells ya.......

Couldn't really agree more. Although, if anything, the version of Broken Heart from the Albert Hall live album is even more special.

    Bloody great album

  • I'll have to remind myself of that - I like the version of electric mainline off that album

Is that past tense or did the apostrophe float off?

I love the first track as well as broken heart. Seem to remember enjoying the instrumental version of broken heart too. Also love the album that followed

For some reason, I always much preferred them live. The studio albums always seemed lacking in comparison.
My wife asked me to stop singing Wonderwall.
    I said maybe.....

Note to self: must listen to this again. It's been ages.

    Probably just hungry...

Great album, that I've seen performed a few times, always excellent until the last one (Hackney Empire) which was a bit off.

  • Superb album

I've got the special edition CD in a pill case.
Me too. Felt wrong to open it. I think they did a deluxe version with several "pills", i.e. multiple discs...although maybe I imagined that.

    Yeah they did.

If you've got that one unopened it's worth a fortune.

Yeah I've got a pill box one too.

unopened multi-disc ones must be rare as anything I should have thought. It came with twelve 3" cds (one per track) each in their own pill bit. Cool as anything.

My brother has a copy of it. I think it was in a frame when he bought it. He's just into streaming now. It might be a good time to try and buy it off him. I have the single pill box CD. It's a fabulous album, as is Lazer Guided Melodies... probably my consistently fave band.

  • Made me go and listen again. I remember going to see them a couple of times in the late 90s and being blown away by the atmospheric sound.  Jason Pierce wasn't a natural front man - he just stood there with various fenders, loads of effects into a fender Deville and with a whole collective of similar musicians conjured up this great, trippy spacey sound.

    There's no apostrophe - it's "we are" : >
