@Rabs - think I've trawled everyone!

Decided to have an experiment today.  I don't have the transfer paper yet, but I printed my logo onto normal plain paper at normal resolution, and just coloured it in with a gold metallic pen...

I think it was mentioned.. But when you come to finish it, assuming you are using oil you should cover the decal with some kind of clear coat spray or the oil will eat away at the decal (and probably the gold colouring)...  Just get a basic poly spray (I got one from B&Q). Then when you apply the first coat of oil go easy on that area.. Don't rub too hard.

Apparently you can use sanding sealer for that too... it's done such a good job so far I might give it a try... 

Which is one of the reasons I'd like to do the logo myself with some transfer paper - I can experiment without wasting tons of cash every time.  I can print out a whole page, colour them differently, seal them all and see what happens.

I'm very excited.

I haven't made the holes for the scratchplate yet, I'm going to do that after I get the Wilkinson bridge.  Scratchplate wired up and ready(ish) to go.

I would love to make my own guitar body, but I really don't have the confidence to do it.  Got a router (don't know how to use it though! ) and a workshop...

Stick to builds for a while I think... but I've got to finish this one first, then work out what I want to do next, then collate the parts.  Still short on a few bits and bobs for this one..!

This build looks fabulous Paul. Love  the grain and the walnut colour is  stunning.bet it looks  even better in the flesh!.
and  love how you've left the shell  pink in the cavities. I will eventually have a shell pink jazzmaster! ha.

Cheers @lonestar - bit of a lull now while I attempt to raise funds for the last bits and bobs to finish it off.

And then decide whether to do another one or make those other bodies available to other partscaster folks.  I really can't decide. 

But this would take me to 3 Strats, no need for more, surely? 

Mind you, I'd love something thin skinned and vintage looking...

So... it's been while.  My parts fund had been depleted.  I had spotted some NOS Charvel Kahler units on Whammi World, I enquired and the price quoted was $260+.  Plus shipping and import fees I decided against that.

They're pretty much the same as the ones they made for Fender, but without the Fender branding.  The saddles have a different shape (slotted instead of pear shaped holes).

But then it looked like they were having a sell-off and had the same thing listed a couple of months later on ebay for $160.  I considered it, but by the time I'd raised the money, they'd sold them all.  Even so, it would have been quite pricey after import fees and postage...



Luckily though I spotted a used one on ebay UK, and it's on it's way... so brass block, saddles and trem plate with the large back section.  This will guarantee - maybe? - a very different stratty sound.

So we're onto the final push now!!

I'll save a picture until it's arrived and on the body...

It's arrived.  It's pleasingly heavy.  Over 600g, so around the 1.3lbs mark!  Photos to follow...
