    On the other side of the coin, mobile internet gives us something to do during awkward moments in boring nights out.

    This has happened in the past and I I find it bizarre that some people I know a little record me on their phones and then stream it on Facebook when:

    It's really boring;

    I'm completely pissed and letting off;

    I am so drunk I usually can't remember whatever I'm doing, singing or animal noises I'm making;

    I've previously had loads of interest from a load of girls who knew my sister when I went on holiday with their family a year back just from a single photo posted on Facebook;

    The place is for talking, not recording and immortalizing and pigeonholing a random snippet of the past in time forever.  That is just sad.

    It's my fucking life, not yours for the taking.  I enjoy my life and mostly being an asexual hermit you boring wenches and when I occasionally get lucky it's on my terms and in real life with people I meet in real life.

    If you ask me phones should be banned from pubs unless used for work purposes and any contravening this law should be punishable by death.

    Now I'm just a self employed ginger loser and I really don't really care either way, but what if I did?  What of I was a snooty nosed barrister or something, surely there would be a legal case for defamation of character?  Or do you really have to conduct yourself shamelessly every minute of the time you are out in public?

    I don't think it's a "need". Some people might be interested though, I guess. When I'm at the pub with mates one of them might mention that they've been to this pub before or something - I don't have any problem with them using precious oxygen to tell me that.

    I mean seriously, stuff like this gets my goat. .  'Ooooo, drunk guy at the pub'  or in other words 'I'm so sad and bored and socially inept that I'm gonna film a drunk guy at the pub and post it on YouTube'.

    Seriously, feck off you little turd runt of the litter delta male/female and get a life.  Maybe even have a drink and get drunk and have a laugh and talk to people, new people, all sorts of people, instead of turning your chair and back to people, talking to your only 'Friend' who you came in with and then staring at your phone for the next three hours and treating the pub as a human zoo and others with indignity.  After all, that is what pubs are for you total imbecile.  What exactly did he ever do to you anyway?

    These are the sorts of people who take ten thousand photographs on holiday but don't talk to anybody outside of their little clic.

    Edit: Maybe they're just trying to shame people into becoming sad voyeuristic twats who do nothing but stare at their phones all night?

    Personally I think porn should be censored and effectively banned on the internet.  It's far too damaging to young people's image of what is acceptable and how relationships should be.  As a parent of young children, it is a worry and I don't want them to be exposed to it.

    .....Naturally before the ban, I'd download some for prosperity, just say my top 1000 clips of the preceding week.

    Conspiracy Theories - they have never had such a big audience
    Porn
    Cyber bullying
    Everyone is now a retail expert and can sell via e-bay/Gumtree etc
    Decline of the high street
    Decline of the record industry sales

    I like the internet too but I'm not sure Cyber Bullying should go in the "pros" list.
    Maybe I picked up on the wrong side of this but my list was not a list of positive attributes on the web

    more a list of what the web site has created

    it has many huge benefits as we all know

    Total garbage, this is exactly what young girls should think is acceptable as they grow up and mature into twenty somethings.

    Music videos are a far bigger evil. My son & my 3 nieces (5-10) love pop music but at least half the videos are completely unsuitable to be viewed and the older ones are now listening properly to the lyrics too which is quite a problem even with some of the LittleMix stuff that if you're half listening to is teenybopper stuff and stuff they all like to dance to. Nothing makes your stomach drop like a 7 year old ask what does better sex mean and what is 'she faking' (Hear's to my ex). I can screen our home internet, I can't screen the TV or radio at 4pm.

    And how are you going to enforce that? (OK, I know you're probably joking a bit from the last bit…)

    I have kids too. In my opinion it's far better to educate them about what porn is, how it differs from reality and why they shouldn't allow themselves or anyone they're in a relationship with to use it as a guidebook. It is a fact that they will be exposed to it at some point or another and I'd actually rather they were aware of it in advance.

    When they were very young I did have child-protection software on their devices, but now they're a bit older I've tried to educate them as to what not to do online rather than insulate them from it.

    I actually think this should be an important part of sex education in schools.

    Porn gives young people totally unrealistic expectations.....

    Yeah I was Joking.  Although looking back I'm glad I was introduced via the relative innocence of magazines like Parade.  It's a bit different nowadays.

    But.....  despite the explosion in availability of hard-core porn, depicting everything imaginable (and frequently the unimaginable too !), it is still illegal in the UK to publish an image of an erect penis.  You can print photos of what a woman's had for lunch, spreadeagled, but a hard-on ?  Good God no !!  That would corrupt society !!

    Such is the obscene publications act.  Another one of the those antiquated laws, like drug control, that successive spineless governments won't update because it might generate negative publicity.

    The internet is a fantastic tool for the pre-internet generations to have infinite rants about things they don't understand.

    Say that to my face... :)
    I'm going to take that light-heartedly :)
