What did you think of it ? Does it avoid solid state nasties like sterility and cold sounding ? Can it do the blues , im not interested in high gain, more gain, gimme gain and all that kind of thing.

Blues cube is well worth a look for what you are after. Combo though.

I was pretty unimpressed to be honest.  Very much built down to a price which may not be an issue you for you but I certainly wouldn't buy one without a decent demo.  As @ennspek said, the Blues Cube may be closer to what you want.

  • The one I heard I thought sounded great, at a rehearsal. I thought it sounded like a Marshall jtm.

Not massively high gain, but a responsive crunchy clean. It sounded good enough I poked my head in to find out what amp it was - was pretty surprised to see a katana 2x12 combo.

I'd say if you want a dirtyish Marshall tone it's brilliant as that's what I heard. It cleans up fine with pick attack, too. No idea what the other tones were like.

    Rather that than Milton Keynes.

I met a guy from Milton Keynes once, absolute dick.

I know its a small sample to base an opinion on, but real world experience and all that.

" Why does it smell of bum?" Mrs Professorben.

I think a few million iPhones a year are made in China too.

BTW...Katana is modelled on the classic Marshall EL34 sound according to their tech people.

My son has the 100w combo.

Was at his school concert earlier this week and his band were excellent.

It was used by every guitarist and a three piece 'Cream' tribute act used it and sounded superb. Guitarist was even using a Boss ME70 into the Katana.

My god these kids have no idea about good tone or dynamics or valve goodness or........hang on.

Sorry but the sounds emanating from his bedroom and then at his band's rehearsal (quite loud) are excellent.

Ignore the price and try one.

But wait, it might be made in China so ignore everything I just said. ;)

For the price it just seems too good to ve true, the online demos sound pretty good.

Definitely seems like an amp you need to try. Everyone on forums is raving about them but I've not heard any decent clips yet, I didn't even like Johan Segeborn's most recent one too much - would have rather heard him put the head through a good cab!
