Gents,
I have a 5e3 circuit amp which I'm tweaking to taste
I was a little on the dark side for my my sensibilities, so I've fitted a 5v4 rectifier and swapped out the first pair of coupling caps from .1 to 0.5.
This has made a positive difference and it feels really close to where I want it
I'd like a touch more top, but the big issue is an excess of bass - I wouldn't describe it as 'flub', it's just that any note played on the low E is overly dominant (but I am playing at home volumes, so what's 'overly stout bass' at 90dB may well turn into flub at 110dB?)
So as I understand it, my options are
1) Go further to 0.22 on the first coupling caps
2) Go to 0.5 or 0.22 on the 2nd set of coupling caps
3) Change the cathode bypass cap to 10uF
The soldering is killing me (literally) so I don't have the option to experiment too much further and would welcome the benefit of some experience from you good folks if I may?
Baz
The answer was never 42 - it's 1/137 (..ish)
