5500km across Australia, bloody nutters!!!

So, for those who don't know what this race is. 5, 475 km ultra endurance unsupported cycle race from the Indian Ocean to the Pacific Ocean across Australia. Bikepacking for lunatics essentially.



800Km in one day as a training ride, WTF!

4 days in and the leaders have done over 1500 Km!!!

Day 6, Mike Hall from Wales is leading having covered over 2,750 Km (currently 2,763 on the live tracker).

In SIX days! Not even a tent! Just a sleeping bag and a map of places where it's good that you probably won't die!

In context, the Tour de France is usually about 3,500 Km, over 3 weeks, with full-on back up, rest days, superstars staying in hotels, daily massages, drinks and food on tap, adoring fans, etc.

 And don't get me wrong I love that and go every year.

But IndiPac is just a whole other level of WTF!!!

Sad news.

IndiPac has been cancelled following the tragic death of Mike Hall after he was hit by a car.

I won't claim to be a long-time fan of Mike Hall, but I'm a keen cyclist and learned about the Transcontinental Race last year, and the IndiPac via this thread. Hearing the news this morning has left me pretty shell-shocked. It's a tragedy to have happened, especially in the circumstances.
