Also used the extractor while cutting some mounting blocks for the speakers on the bandsaw - it's so quiet. No dust left on the machine, and it even cleans itself once it's done. Marvellous bit of kit.
I'm now looking for a fanless PC with a parallel port to run the CNC machines. Doesn't need to be mad powerful - the CCD/2 runs on a Win2K machine at the mo and the K2 on an XP machine. Anyone got any ideas? Has to be a hardware parallel port as the PCB machine has a dongle that needs direct pin access.
Lots of mini-itx motherboards still come with parallel ports, as quite a lot of industrial applications still use parallel ports. Have a look over on mini-itx.com as I recently bought a motherboard and bits from there that will eventually be going in my latest CNC mill.
and this is easy for me to say from the comfort of my armchair ...
being so far away gives me a completely different perspective ...
you've obviously spent a lot of time planning the detail, and so missed the blindingly obvious ...
no-one loves a smartarse (but I'm used to that) ...
something only a good friend would tell you ...
it would be easier for me to say nothing and just let you get on with it ...
you'll only kick yourself later ...
You really should have put the wallpaper up before you'd moved all that industrial stuff in there as it's going to be a lot harder putting it up now, especially behind all the silver tubing stuff. Top tip now is to get the curtains up before you move any more stuff in there.
HTH.
I figured it was worth doing as properly as possible.

I am going to go and survey my domain for a bit and work out what to do next.

And I arranged most of my timber stock:

Also cleared the area where the bench will go and started sorting bits of poplar for that.
Also an order I placed at Charnwood for some dust extraction bits (hoods, adaptors, that sort of thing) still hasn't turned up; I emailed for an update and they've said some of it is out of stock. It wasn't when I placed the order (two weeks ago) and they didn't bother sending an update.
What's with suppliers not doing their jobs properly?
I made a little rack for my lathe tools from a bit of scrap spruce and a bit of scrap maple for the brackets. Very ugly. Needs paint. No pictures until it's finished and mounted to an appropriate bit of wall.

Use small pieces of something (I use small pieces of ply) at the ends between them to get some airflow.
Also, if you have any skylights or windows and get direct sunlight on the timber then you might find it gets discoloured.
A curtain or sheet covering the timber may help.

Today the aircon installer arrived (at the wrong house initially). Two hours later the aircon arrived. Six hours later and it's all installed.

Now I shall always be both warm and chilly and dehumidified.
