The refurb of my Sheraton was going well - everything came off, the pots fit through the f-holes, the tuners fit - but the bridge post holes are 72mm spaced, not 74mm. This was supposed to have stopped in the 90s but clearly didn't. The tailpiece is fine though.
I am determined to get a decent bridge on it so, options are:
- Drill out the original holes with a slightly wider drill bit ( they need to be deeper come what may ) and make good with something - matchsticks, No More Nails, whatever - to ensure a really tight fit.
- Fill the existing holes with dowel and redrill to correct spacing.
Any other thoughts? I don't have a fancy post drill - is that what you use? - so it will have to be done by hand unless my local friendly luthier could do it for me.

If you can't make the template without a angling the drill it's probably not wise to try it on the guitar.
once you have your template I would tape sandpaper to the guitar and sand the base of the template so it sits nicely and can be held on by double sided tape.

The Black & Decker is warming up.....
I dig up this topic because I don't want to create a new one as I've got the similar problem.
Indeed, I just bought an 1993 Samick Epiphone Sheraton II and we all face this bridge post spacing issue. I accidentaly broke a screw on my bridge because the studs were too old. However, today I need to replace this bridge and.... Thomann doesn't sell the duesenberg Steel Saddle Bridge Ni. Such a shame... However I found these instead which fit the 72mm/73,5mm post spacing.

So I suggest that today they are the better option to replace a bridge on a 1990's Sheraton II.
But my problem is :
I don't know which holes diameter I have on my Sheraton II, if it's M8 or M4... Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks for replying I don't know if my message will be read.
