Koji is a great cheaper substitute for a Cali (I had one of the first Calis). There's another on sale in the classifieds IIRC

On the Wampler, I know what you mean - I've owned a lot of them, and not kept too many.
I've owned the SP compressor and really would not recommend that, and the views I've heard about the Ego are pretty favourable, and the limitations seem sensible.

I've got a large-box transformer model - *that's* a big pedal (and needs 18v for the Tx to kick in)
Its a bit longer and taller than I'd like it doesn't fit nicely on my board, besides I want to keep it in my studio setup.
Of course a could by another but ideally would get something cheaper. I only use it 2 or 3 times in a set
