Klingspor is very good too, but it is expensive.

I want to avoid this as I had silicone in the past and it loads up really fast, at least my one did.

I didn't use that brand, just some other silicon carbide stuff.
I'll have a good look at all these options, thanks chaps.

Actually it looks like there's two types, grey silicon carbide which I've used plenty of and gold, ally oxide type. Tbh any of the brands mentioned here should be fine, they'll all got very good reps.
You can get little packs of small stiff brushes cheaply from fleabay, sort of toothbrush shape, great for unclogging paper.

Your life will improve when you realise it’s better to be alone than chase people who do not really care about you. Saying YES to happiness means learning to say NO to things and people that stress you out.

I may invest in some of those in higher grits, I went for the Mirka @octatonic mentioned @120grit (it was the cheapest option given here, a huge factor right now) and it's excellent, I had some severe 40 and 80 grit marks to remove in the maple (don't ask) and an hour with the Mirka has removed all of it, makes light work of the mahogany back too.
I have some unevenness in the grain pattern in the quilt top and I think the pads may help with that.
Thanks as ever for all the suggestions peeps, I'll get a refin thread together when I come to colour/finish this guitar.
