The speaker-emulated bit is critical - there's no point in any solution, including modding the amp, which doesn't have this because it will sound terrible.

The other way of doing it would be to buy a good dummy load AND a Helix, you could then route the amp into the Helix and have all the FX and cabinet emulations from there.
More gear is always the answer ;-)
