I have headphones for recording I'm happy with, but I want something cheaper and less bulky I can chuck in my bag/leave at my desk at work for casual listening.
I prefer softer ear pads, as I wear glasses at the computer.
Closed back only as I both want to block out external noise and not leak it.
Tonally I'm fine with low end being forward, so long as the sound isn't overly stuffy.
I've had enough of in ears for casual listening, I can't seem to find a pair that I like the sound of and that remain comfortable for longer periods. I bought Sound Magic E10C's a while back and I dislike the tone, I'm just using them for the gym as I have no other in ears and don't like wearing over ear headphones for exercise. Can't remember the model of my previous (now broken) pair of in-ear Sennheisers, which I preferred, but I don't want to buy any more in-ears anyway.

The AKG's are What Hifi's product of the year 2016 and have won the award three years running.
Rrp £80 but widely available sub £60.

Have had a brief look and will do a more detailed investigation later.
One thing I'd totally forgotten about is cable length - seems most over ear headphones come with longer cables and most on ear seem to come with a shorter cable... for this purpose a shorter cable would be preferable.
I can live with on ears if they are comfy enough.
How comfy are the AKGs? @Bowks @Iamnobody
My only concern with What HiFi as a reference is they don't say who in particular reviewed it. They also give SoundMagic E10s a 5 star rating and if it's the same person we definitely have opposite tastes!
Compared to my Sennheiser IE80s, which are IEM style headphones, the bass is less overpowering and the separation of instruments is tremendous.

Very non-leaky and I find them very comfy. I've used them for general music listening plus also for vocal tracking and they tick many boxes. I found a pair in a very retro beige colour on amazon... swish.
