I'm not risking it anymore, I can't lose my eBay account.
There's constantly offers for final fees of £1 these days, so I just list when they come along, so even going through the proper channels, I still only pay a quid in fees to eBay and 3.4% to PayPal.
eg someone makes a rubbish 'best offer' you refuse politely, they notice that you have made your phone number visbile in listing and snitch.
or someone else selling the same item wants to knock your item off the site for a while so they can be the only person offering that item and get a better price, they see your number in listing and snitch.
you may get away with it but that button could potentially cause problems if you get the wrong person looking at your listing.
I wonder if ebay are doing the calculations.
When we put a promotion on we get x thousand sales. And make zero.
When we don't have a promotion we sell x minus 70%.
My view is they should move back to a max fee.
I can see their point but the counter measures seem way ott and badly implemented.
if you own it and you have taken it out of the box and used it, it is 'used'.
if you own it but have never taken it out of the box and used it (unwanted gift, etc), then it is 'new' or (technically) 'new other'.
but both have been 'pre-owned'.so it qualifies nothing. woolly language, lose it.
what's the problem with 'used'? unless you are using it to describe a former partner it's hardly offensive.
We all get an Enigma machine, and add our contact details that way.
I mean, gumtree is owned by eBay, so they should be cool with that.
