my son wants a new headset for the Xbox for Christmas but Christ what a minefield. I haven't used it with a headset for ages since I got a gaming pc so I'm a bit out of touch.
What he wants is a headset that can have both chat and game audio at the same time, should be pretty straightforward in my eyes but I've no idea after looking at different sets what will work and whether you need an adapter for the controller to make both game and chat route through the headphones.
Do I need the adapter to do this or not?
Nobody is guaranteed tomorrow.....

I had an older set of Turtle Beach that pasted years but new ones I have are neater as no separate base for transmitor and they have a built in battery that charges off same lead as my joypad does.
They look like they are on offer for around £99 now aswell.
Best checking the instructions but a quick skim on the internet says it should just plug into the 3.5mm jack on the joypad.

So may as well turn this into a "recommendations for a headset fore under £60 for a dimwit son".
